I was trying to figure out what Octane is (the Station Sheet says that it is New Hard Rock). My first impression was that it is a mix between heavy metal and hard core grunge, so I guess I was right. I listened on a Wednesday, a long schlepping day and I've got to say, I got sick of listening to this station about half way through. It is just not my speed. It started off interesting. I heard a song with Carly at 7:09am on the way to school called Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry:
Hey, you're a crazy bitch.
But you fuck so good, I'm on top of it.
When I dream, I'm doing you all night
Scratches all down my back to keep me right on
You keep me right on
You're a crazy bitch, but I like the way you fuck me
I could not believe these lyrics and I am very liberal and open-minded. Seriously, who is this band. And I wondered if the entire day would be like this. (The song itself was not too bad; just the lyrics). Anyway, the day progressed with a bunch of screaming bands such as ACDC (although I can handle popular ACDC). Listening made me think: How do they do that to their voices? How can they sing more than one song at a concert? I really can't imagine. And then the band names, Three Days Grace, Apocalyptica (I actually like their song, it had strings and wasn't screaming). I had heard of Audioslave and Godsmack before listening to this station, but I would not have listened to their songs and known it was them.
Lots of schlepping. Picked up Molly and Gabby from train, then got Carly and Dani from Regency, dropped them off. Got Issy. Took Molly to voice lessons (had a couple minutes to myself with a nice cappacino), took Molly home and picked up Carly and Dani, picked up Issy at soccer practice and then went to Delray to see American Heritage's Seussical (which was actually very good; we all liked it). Such a friggin' schlep. Wish it was better music.
